Our primary IDE in this bootcamp is IntelliJ IDEA Ultimate. This is a commercial product (IntelliJ IDEA Community is open source), but you can obtain a 12-month free license with your cnm.edu email address. So, immediately after getting your email address, and accessing your email the first time through https://my.cnm.edu, you must apply for the JetBrains education license.

Please note: You cannot complete the steps below without access to your cnm.edu (or other .edu) e-mail account!

JetBrains education license application

Browse to JetBrains Products for Learning and complete the application, using your cnm.edu e-mail address (or some other .edu account you own). This e-mail address is the key to your eligibility for this license: you must not only provide it in this form, but you must have access to it, since a confirmation link will be sent to the address.

Confirm application

When you receive your confirmation e-mail, sent to the e-mail address specified in your JetBrains account application, click the the confirmation link. Important: It is quite common (especially with CNM’s e-mail service) for this confirmation e-mail to be routed your junk/spam/bulk mail folder. Do not assume that if you don’t see the confirmation e-mail in your inbox, you haven’t received it: check your junk mail folder!

Create JetBrains account

After clicking the confirmation link, complete your JetBrains account registration.

On successful completion of your account registration, you will be granted a free 12-month license to lntelliJ IDEA Ultimate (as well as several other JetBrains development tools). Important: Don’t lose your JetBrains credentials; they are required when registering your copy of IntelliJ IDEA Ultimate.
