Overview

These tools and protocols are introduced in this tutorial:

• Git: A distributed version control system (DVCS).
• GitHub: A cloud-based service for hosting and managing Git repositories.
• Markdown: A simple text markup language, usually converted to HTML for browser rendering.
• GitHub Pages: A website hosting service that publishes content contained in Git repositories hosted on GitHub, with automatic conversion of Markdown-formatted content to HTML.

Your introduction to the above will come through creating and updating your own GitHub Pages site. But the site you create will not just be for this tutorial: Over the course of the bootcamp, you’ll refine the content in the repository you create, making it a key part of your online presence.
